Service Opportunities
SIGN-UP: At meetings, by using our Service Sign up online form or by emailing Brian Jones brian.jones@mnsu.edu
001 Kids Against Hunger is on a break right now due to lack of funds. There are no packaging opportunities at this time. They are in need of financial donations at this time rather than service.
In addition to the service commitments above, we will regularly make available to our members service activity opportunities that come up within the community that
allow us to partner with other organizations. Examples would include the Mankato Pow Wow in September, the MRCI Grand Prix in the spring and events such as the Campus Kiwanis Club’s annual Run for Education.
The plan for this year provides people with ongoing commitment opportunities where real learning and relationship building can take place along with service
activities that are one time only and allow us to be visible to other organizations in the community.

Lot of support to work with Head Start. Route sign up list to get people involved
Jeff H. proposed “buddy system” idea. Get people to volunteer in pairs; invite someone along to your volunteer activity
Areas to improve:
- Get more club members involved in service
- establish a mechanism on our website to report volunteer hours
- Streamline process to take action on service projects (board approval can be cumbersome)
- focus on public health
Other ideas for service in 2007-2008:
- 005 Open Door Health Clinic (mostly in need of health care providers to donate time)
- 006 Create/operate community volunteer center
- 007 Salvation Army Bell ringing
- 008 Create Key Club (East HS), K-Kids (elementary school), Aktion club for developmentally disabled (costs money to charter and annual dues)
- 009 Assistance for SAL Youth Center - our speaker at the start of October
- 010 Run for Education - next Oct, 2008
