MembersThe Mankato Diversity Kiwanis Club is composed of about equal numbers of men and women. Our membership has representation from a wide variety of racial backgrounds, cultures, religions and lifestyles.At our first anniversary, March 23, 2007, we had 54 members. CommitteesService Committee : selects and implements service projects. Kids Against Hunger and Walking in Two Worlds are our focus projects for 2007. Helping package food, mentoring newcomers to the community and that type of activity is what this committee organizes.Fundraising Committee: raises money for service. We did a candy sale in the fall that raised the money that we donated to Kids Against Hunger to help buy food materials for our packaging day in December. Additional fundraisers throughout the year will help with other service needs in the community. Funds from fundraising can only be used for service - they can not be used for any type of administrative expenses. Chairperson: Bukata Hayes, bhayes@greatermankato.com Membership Committee: helps recruit and maintain members. Without people, service projects can't happen, so members are very important. Also, this particular club is seeking diversity from the community to be reflected in our club, so we are welcoming people from many different backgrounds to join us in service. Chairperson: Dwain Petersen, d2pete@aol.com Programs/Administration Committee: handles meetings and administration. Meals planning, finding speakers/programs for meetings, etc. A good Kiwanis meeting has a solid program or speaker as part of it, this group helps to find and plan the meetings. Funds raised during meetings can be used for administrative expenses and to send officers to convention events. Chairperson: Stewart Ross, stewart.ross@mnsu.edu |
