Welcome
The Mankato Diversity Kiwanis Club exists to bring together people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse talents to provide service to children in the Greater Mankato area and the world.
Slogan: "Gathering diverse talents, serving diverse needs"
Points of Pride from 2006-2007 for Past Service Work Done:
Kids Against Hunger
- 35-40 members packaged food to feed hundreds of children (2 sessions; Dec. and July)
- Grant writing assistance (Jeff Halber)
- three tier system $15k-$50k + plan
- team of grant writers put in place to continue work for KAH
- PSA video (90 hours of production and film; Tony Goodwin, Tracy Ford)
- Donated $600 as a club for packaging; partnered with Downtown club ($400 from them); $700 from David Ross’ recital= $1,700 raised by our club for KAH
- Hot dog stand fundraiser (5-6 members worked 4 hour shifts to help KAH), this raised additional funds not counted above
- Helped demolish mezzanine at KAH site (about 6 hrs between two members)
- Amend and distribute internship descriptions
Walking in 2 Worlds
*Connection gathering between our club and their members happened October 23, 2007 at the YWCA and it was fantastic!! We are looking forward to meeting our new friends again soon.
